About

The Green Lab’s mahi is to contribute to the social wellbeing ecosystems in Ōtautahi Christchurch through the creation of meaningful greening events and spaces. A wealth of research shows that green environments have a fundamentally positive impact on our mental and physical health; thus creative greening is the vehicle through which we work to make change.

As a purpose led non-profit we respond to the constant shifting of our socio-political, economic and environmental landscapes in Ōtautahi (and wider Aotearoa) with projects that test ideas, create connection, share skills, and support wellbeing in our city. We position ourselves in the space between grassroots community activities and local government initiatives, and often act as a conduit between groups or provide tautoko(support) to aligned organisations.

We have been supported by Christchurch City Council since 2010.
