About

MacFarlane Park Community Garden was established in 2017, on Council land just off Jebson Street, Shirley.

Kaupapa:
  • To be a place of meeting and connection in the community.  
  • To foster knowledge and an enjoyment of gardening in the community, especially with the young of Shirley.
  • To provide a place to grow vegetables and fruit collectively for the benefit of the community of Shirley.

We run an after school children's gardening group for LOCAL children, and this is by registration only.

Toilets on site are wheelchair friendly.

Garden contains different textures and scents to cater for those with sensory impairments.

Paths, beds, and other areas in the garden have large, easy-to-read signs.

Opening & working bee hours
The garden is in a public park, so is open all the time. We garden as a goup on Thursday mornings, though this time changes term by term. Please watch Facebook for changes.

We meet on Mondays, and Wednesdays from 9.30 am to 1:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1 pm. From November till the end of March, we meet for late-night gardening sessions from 6pm to 8pm Riverlution Eco hub is open Monday to Friday 9.30 am-4.00 pm and Saturday 10 am-1 pm
